5G O-RAN RIC: RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) & Element Management System (EMS)
ITRI has developed a 5G Network Management System that consists of the O-RAN Based 5G RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) and the Element Management System (EMS). RIC includes Non-Real Time (Non-RT) and Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RIC. Non-RT RIC collects the RAN information and predicts network behavior through machine learning. Near-RT RIC automatically adjusts the Radio Resource Management (RRM) to the RAN and prevents Quality of Experience (QoE) from being reduced by the predicted results of Non-RT RIC. EMS offers capabilities to orchestrate managed elements (Near-RT RIC, O-CU, O-DU, O-RU). This system includes management for configuration, fault, performance, files and software.
